ROOTS AND CULTURE soundsystem

Masego soundsystem is an independent handbuilt roots and dub soundsystem based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The performing crew consists of selector Mathical and the passionated MC Jakob Trinity. The artists are backed by the steady logistical team of Thierry, Ray and Lionface. Masego means 'blessed' in the Tswana language, a name that reflects to the mission and passion of JAH music. Armed with their 8 scoop soundsystem, Masego plays their music dedicated and loud, spreading the message of Rastafari Itinually. All praises to JAH.

Taking inspiration from the original Jamaican and United Kingdom soundsystem culture the current Masego crew has been active since 2012. After a few years of collabaration with 'Original Dub Radix', Masego Soundsystem was founded and started to host various successful events, including their steady rocking dubclub in WORM. While being booked on sessions and festivals in the Netherlands and abroad, they never stopped working on their own soundsystem. With a burning passion for the culture, the roots and the dub they saw their soundsystem grow step by step.

Masego is a versatile soundsystem and plays various sub genres of reggae and dub. During long sessions, Masego likes to tell a story that starts with 70s roots and ends with fresh riddims mixed last week in studios all over the globe. With widely varying lines through the 80s and 90s to post millennium styles, via roots again, muggy slow dub and modern steppers, Masego preferably ends in a solid West London selection. Mathical's love for several styles of reggae and dub results in a dynamic selection with unexspected twists. Jakob Trinity can handle all styles and together as a crew Masego never stops pushing the vibes untill the session bursts!
